Gandhinagar is the capital of the state of Gujarat in western India and lies on the west bank of the Sabarmati river. This capital city of Gujarat got its name from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Though Gandhinagar was established in 1960, the city got its identity only after Mumbai was split into two different states namely Gujarat and Maharashtra and it was then Gandhinagar became the capital of Gujarat. The Gandhinagar Judiciary came into existence on 31-07-2004. Gandhinagar Judiciary was bifurcated from the districts of Ahmedabad(Rural) and Mehsana. There are three Taluka Courts under Gandhinagar Judicial Headquarter functional at Kalol, Dehgam and Mansa. The Court started functioning from the Court campus in the capital city Gandhinagar of Gujarat State. Shri K.J.Thaker had the honour of being the first District Judge . Later on a need arose for bigger and an integrated multi storied Court campus. All the Courts started functioning under one roof. At present the total strength of the Judicial Officers at Gandhinagar is 40
